Supports the origination and structuring of corporate lending transactions across diversified industries typically including mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, and complex restructurings.

Coordinates with other product areas as an integral part of larger deal / coverage teams to execute client deliverables and maintain strong client relationships.


  • Completes extensive due diligence and credit analysis on new and existing client relationships including analysis of business models and comprehensive review of related industry and regulations.
  • Creates detailed financial models to assess company performance and cash flows, and identifies underlying business and financial risks.
  • Contributes to developing appropriate loan structures to best meet client needs.
  • Creates pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participates in client presentations.
  • Participates in cross functional / cross product deal teams to develop and present solutions to win mandates on new opportunities.
  • Works with deal team and external counsel to prepare / review loan documentation.
  • Supports loan syndication with transaction knowledge.
  • Understands complexity of transactions and related risk (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.).
  • Understands the needs of clients and provides relevant ideas and opinions to generate recommendations.
  • Uses financial analysis to proactively identify opportunities to crosssell.
  • Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders.
  • Identifies and supports opportunities for increased efficiency, continuous improvement and enhanced service to clients.
  • Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of daytoday accountabilities and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules/guidelines.
  • Takes initiative and works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprisewide focus.

Qualifications:


  • Typically between 5 years of relevant experience and postsecondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Undergraduate degree has academic coursework in finance, economics, and / or accounting with an outstanding academic achievement.
  • MBA or accounting designation preferred.
  • 2+ years of corporate banking or investment banking experience.
  • Highly motivated team player with ability to take initiative and work to demanding client deadlines.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and corporate and investment banking products.
  • Deal / transaction execution experience.
  • Exceptional skills in financial modeling and credit analysis.
  • Exceptional written communication skills and ability to synthesize information and write efficiently for senior level audience.
