About us
Do Good Donuts is a small business in Toronto, ON.

We are innovative, and our goal is to Do Good Donuts and Café is a start-up employment social enterprise delivering work-based training for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Our innovative paid, on-the-job training program delivers person-led training in an integrated food service business.

Our employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn how to have a job on the job - bridging the current gap between programs that teach them how to find employment and employers who see their lack of work experience as a barrier to hiring.

At Do Good, employees with disabilities work alongside supportive staff to gain the skills and confidence they need to be ready to work in jobs in the community.

Together, we produce delicious donuts and cookies, which are sold at farmer's markets and for catering to clients across the city.

Not only does this unique approach to training prepare our participants for a successful transition to work, but it also allows the community to see how these often overlooked young people thrive at work.

This role is partially funded by the
Canada Summer Jobs grant program via the


Youth Employment And Skills Strategy. To qualify,
applicants must be between the ages of 15 to 30 years. Applicants do not need to be a student to qualify. Furthereligibility requirements are listed below.


About Do Good Donuts


Do Good Donuts is a startup social enterprise that hires young adults with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and neurodiversity for paid, on-the-job training at our Farmers Market donut shop, where they gain the skills, experience and confidence they need to succeed at work in the community.

Currently, Do Good Donuts sells out of two Farmers Markets.

We are proud vendors at the Leslieville Farmers Market in Greenwood Park Sundays, 9 am - 2 pm, and High Park Community Market on Thursday afternoon.

Our trainee employees join us for paid, work-based training on Saturdays from 9 am-1 pm. This shift includes classroom learning and hands-on baking training.

About the Baker Role


We are hiring TWO bakers who are current or past post-secondary culinary students or who have a minimum 1-year experience in a baking position.

Our bakers are key members of our team, because they are the reason our customers keep returning for our donuts and other treats.

As a Do Good baker, you'll work with our trainees, other staff and volunteers to prepare our cookies, donuts and any additional products we want to add to our lineup.


Requirements & Qualifications:


  • Experience working as a baker or postsecondary education in baking required
  • Experience working with yeast preferred
  • Food Handlers Certification
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and assume responsibility with mínimal supervision
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar etc.)
  • Lived experience interacting with people who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities is an asset but not required
  • Excellent team player
  • Willingness to jump in where needed, including doing dishes, mopping etc.
  • Ability to work early morning hours and weekend hours regularly

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Scale and mix ingredients
  • Transfer dough to mixer manually
  • Experience with yeast dough a plus
  • Rolling, cutting, frying, and glazing of donuts
  • Mixing, portioning, and baking cookies
  • Creating a supportive environment for staff with intellectual and developmental
disabilities as they gain proficiency in food production

  • General prep
  • Ensure that food safety standards are met
  • Ensure clean up and sanitation of equipment
  • Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently
  • Generate new product ideas and weekly specials with teammates
  • Maintain daily log using Google Suite
  • Work with bakery manager retail and catering manager to ensure there is sufficient ingredient stock, including items needed for weekly specials
  • Comfortable working early mornings (Some 5am start times)
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Positive attitude, inclusive, creative and organized
  • Great time management skills
  • General knowledge of pastry production
  • Strong communication skills
