CLASS 5 DRIVER INSTRUCTOR

_DUTIES _
UCN requires Class 5 Driver Instructors for the Adult Class 5 Driver Training Program


Job duties include:
preparing students for in car
and in class driver training, providing instruction on the parts and functions of the vehicle and on road regulations, teaching practical skills
related to all aspects of driving, helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills, work with Program coordinator to schedule
in class and in car training, provide effective feedback to students, educate students on safe driving habits, develop an efficient training
process, and maintain a professional demeanor with all students at all times
. A conditional job offer will be extended to successful


_REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS _:


  • High school diploma with experience facilitating workshops, teaching or training adult learners, an equivalent combination of training
- and experience may be considered.
  • Full Class 5 (5F) Driving Instructor permit and provide permit number or be willing to obtain through a Driver Instructor training program
- that we will be offering beginning January 2024 (tuition costs to be covered by UCN for successful applicants)
  • This program includes 64 hours of classroom theory, followed by 28 hours of practical training and 4 hours of practical certification.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills

_ASSETS _:


  • Knowledge of MPI systems and procedures
  • Experience and/or knowledge and understanding of Indigenous cultures

_CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT _:


  • Must abide by the Driver Training Professional Code of Conduct
  • Valid class 5 driver's license for 3 years with satisfactory driving abstract required
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child and Adult Abuse Registry
  • Travel to northern remote communities required
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required
