The Opportunity:


As part of the Language Programs team, the Early Childhood Educator provides a caring and positive learning environment for children in the childcare programs.

The primary responsibilities for this position are planning, preparing and delivery of daily early childhood educational activities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Is alert and responsive to children's needs at all times, fostering a caring and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in planning for, and implements daily activities, and ensures that all activities are developmentally appropriate. Prepares materials and equipment for activities.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
  • Guides children in activities; telling stories, teaching songs, leading discussions.
  • Guides and assists children in the development of appropriate life skills and interactive behaviour.
  • Ensures the safety and hygiene of all children while in the center.
  • Immediately reports instances of suspected child abuse to the Day Care Coordinator.
  • Adheres to the Centers guidelines for discipline and managing behaviors appropriately.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
  • Adheres to DIVERSEcity and personnel policies, procedures and practices.
  • Any other duties as required.
  • Early Childhood Education Certificate, with a minimum of one years' experience working with children aged 0 - 6 years. Infant Toddler Certificate and/or Special Needs Certificate is an asset.
  • Previous current and relevant experience in a childcare setting.
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of young children, and their parents/caregivers.
  • Cross-cultural experience and knowledge of settlement issues.
  • Ability to plan daily activities appropriate to the curriculum of the program.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, oral and written.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR training; Child Safe training and Food Safe training are assets.
  • A criminal record check is a condition of employment.
  • Second language an asset
A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
