Job Description

POSITION SUMMERY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor Design & Field Engineering and the technical direction and guidance of the Field Technologist, assists with surveying and inspections on construction jobs.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists with construction layout and tie-in.

Drives survey stakes and distributes to layout area.

Sets up survey and total station equipment.

Brushes clearing for survey.

Plots sections.

Conducts addition of quantity summary sheets and related checking requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Secondary school education and enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Technology program at a college or university.

Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Skills & Abilities:

Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English.

Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment.

Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.

Must be able to communicate effectively with other Civic departments and suppliers.

Must be able to clear brush for survey line, carry stakes and survey equipment and hammer stakes into the ground.

Experience with surveying would be an asset.
