    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMERY: Under the general supervision of the Supervisor Design & Field Engineering and the technical direction and guidance of the Field Technologist, assists with surveying and inspections on construction jobs.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with construction layout and tie-in.
  • Drives survey stakes and distributes to layout area.
  • Sets up survey and total station equipment.
  • Brushes clearing for survey.
  • Plots sections.
  • Conducts addition of quantity summary sheets and related checking requirements.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

  • Secondary school education and enrolled in a Civil or Environmental Technology program at a college or university.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in English.
  • Must be highly motivated and work well in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with other Civic departments and suppliers.
  • Must be able to clear brush for survey line, carry stakes and survey equipment and hammer stakes into the ground.
  • Experience with surveying would be an asset.
