Brink's Canada Limited is seeking a motivated Building Maintenance Worker for the Greater Vancouver Area (GVA) Branch based in Surrey.
Under the direction of the Branch Manager, this position keeps the GVA Branch in a clean and orderly condition by performing custodial duties and routine maintenance activities.
As a key member of the GVA Branch, the Building Maintenance Worker proactively supports undertakings and activities, within the responsibilities.
Successful applicants will:
- Maintain a regular cleaning schedule for all areas if the Branch facilities, ensuring they are all kept clean, healthy, and in safe condition;
- Perform standard custodial work to a high standard throughout the facility;
- Keep an inventory of all cleaning supplies and equipment, informing the Branch Manager about resupply or replacement;
- Heavy duty cleaning of floors, emptying all garbage cans, keeping all entrances and exits clean, including mat maintenance;
- Inspect buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair, making notes and recommendations using a pre‐established check sheet; Operate company vehicle as required.
Requirements:
- Two years working experience in facility maintenance;
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry is preferred;
- Successful completion or willingness to obtain relevant training in custodial work;
- A minimum of one year of related work experience, or equivalent combination of training and experience;
- WHIMIS certification required or willingness to obtain;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including effective problemsolving skills;
- Demonstrated dependability as an employee;
- Demonstrated ability to work affectively and cooperatively;
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, and the demonstrated ability to work well with others in a public environment;
- Physical ability to do the work within the time allotted, including handling heavy equipment Proven ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and to be flexible in a busy and dynamic environment;
- Demonstrated ability to take direction and adapt as tasks and responsibilities change;
- Ability to work as a positive member of a team;
- Proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships;
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Ability to regularly lift 25 lbs.
- Has a valid class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
