Job overview:


The objective of IT Support Specialist (Tier 2) is to provide day to day support for PC hardware, software and Telecommunications including installation of PC's and software, troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing problem areas.

Responsible for participating in various phases of computer systems implementation including IT planning, installation, operations and support.


As a representative of the Brenda Strafford Foundation, the person in this position is an active participant in the Foundation's efforts to deliver a person-centered approach, promote a culture of safety.

Furthermore, this role is also accountable to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values and the achievement of the strategic priorities of The Foundation.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • To take the lead on End User support and give guidance to Tier 1 Support staff.
  • Analyze user problems/technical requests and quickly and efficiently resolve issues.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution involving Windows Operating Systems.
  • Perform technical troubleshooting and problem resolution involving computer software, hardware and peripherals.
  • Monitor windows updates and corporate antivirus server and ensure all computers are updated and secure.
  • Document technical solutions for internal use.
  • Add, move, and change computers, printers and telephone systems.
  • Create and deploy desktop images.
  • Maintain accurate support logs and asset information.
  • Submit regular status reports.
  • User account administration in Active Directory.
  • Adhere to corporate/departmental security policies and procedures to maintain data integrity and security.
  • A focus on user relationships, teamwork and quality with an ability/desire to continuously learn.
  • Ability and desire to document all tasks and processes.

Qualifications:


  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Information Technology (Desirable)
  • Microsoft Certifications OR equivalent skill set or experience and/or CompTIA Certifications (A+, Network+ or Security+)

Experience & Skills:


  • Three years of related IT experience.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required.
  • Intermediate skill level in configuration, installation and deployment of PC hardware and Windows operating systems.
  • Intermediate skill level with MS Office including Outlook.
  • Excellent analytical/problemsolving skills required.
  • Experience with corporate antivirus software an asset.
  • Ability to multitask, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Basic Network Administration experience an asset.
