Under the direction of the Program Coordinator and Director of Employment Services, the Employment Specialist is responsible for providing Individualized Job Search Support Services to WorkSafeBC referrals. Service delivery includes, Individualized Job Placement, Resume and Cover Letter Development. Job Search Skills and developing Vocational Rehabilitation Plans.




LOCATION:
Richmond, Coquitlam, Surrey, Victoria and Courtenay.





STATUS:
Contractor -
Remuneration is based on a fixed fee per service**
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Employment Specialist works one-to-one with clients to deliver services that demonstrate the principles of the Job Search Support Services including:

  • Working closely with the referring Vocational Rehab Consultant to provide the services identified in the referral.
  • The objective for this service is to obtain employment for the Worker that is suitable, accessible, sustainable, and maximizes the Worker's earnings.
The individualized job placement service/program should be structured around three key processes:
1) Preparing (the Worker) for job search and employment

2) Finding and securing a job

3) Maintaining durable employment

  • The Individualized Job Placement service requires very active Provider involvement.
Throughout the service, the Provider plays two primary roles:
1) Supporting and collaborating with the Worker:2) Support, motivate, guide, and engage the Worker to actively job search

Provide ongoing feedback

  • Starts with the jobseeker as the source of information for gathering information and developing a Vocational Rehab Plan or Job Search Strategies;
  • Identifies individualized job search Strategies/goals, which are negotiated based on the needs, strengths, and interest of the jobseeker;
  • Provides individualized Job Placement Services including identifying suitable job opportunities

The Employment Specialist job tasks include the following:

  • Conducts intake interview to review purpose of referral and establish rapport and understanding of client situation.
  • Develop Job Search Strategies or Comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Plan;
  • In collaboration with the client establishes clear expected responsibilities and accountability;
  • Works closely with WSBC Vocational Rehabilitation Consultant;
  • Develop comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Plans that identify returntowork goals taking in to account the workers vocational profile, functional abilities, earnings' profile and the availability of jobs;
  • Identify services and supports needed to fulfill the Vocational Plan and safely return the worker to the workforce;
  • Providing Job Searching strategies including Resume and Cover Letter, interviewing skills, LMI, hidden Job Market;
  • Market the Worker directly to potential employers and promote WorkSafeBC HireaWorker program and other incentives as appropriate
  • Reporting to WSBC including Intake, Monthly and Final reports.

QUALIFICATIONS
1.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 2 year directly related to Resume and Cover Letter preparation, Job Search Skills and Individualized Job Placement.

Must have one of the following certifications: CVRP-TSA, CCVE, ICVE

  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Excellent knowledge of disabilities, injuries and labour market information.
  • May require some travel to various work sites and employers, and access to a vehicle on a regular basis.

Education:


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Memberships & Associations:

  • Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) through the Vocational Rehabilitation Association of Canada
  • Certified Vocational Professional (CVP) or Master's Certificate, Vocational Professional (MCVP) through the College of Vocational Rehabilitation Professionals (CVRP)
  • Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC/CCRC)
  • An alternate directly related designation may be proposed for consideration.
