ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:


Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a
Tire Technician to join our Mobile Maintenance team reporting to the Mine Maintenance Supervisor.


Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential
.

The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.

The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999.

The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.


The
Tire Technician will be responsible for the proper maintenance and repair on all tires on site, as well as performing preventative maintenance and operational safety inspections on all equipment with tires at the Detour Lake Mine.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspects, measures, and replaces tires and rims on all mobile equipment on the mine site
  • Performs inspections of tires and wheel components
  • Operates light vehicles in mine to assess reported tire problems on production and auxiliary equipment when necessary.
  • Operates tire manipulator to change of wheel/tire assemblies.
  • Maintains records of all equipment, wheels or tires worked on and highlights the nature of the repairs to wheels, tubes, tires, etc. conducts inventory of direct charge tires and accessories
  • Checks tire pressures as required to ensure that they are within the specified limits and adjusts to improve the equipment's operational efficiency and tire life
  • Maintains good housekeeping and safety practices
  • Is responsible for tools and keeping work area clean and orderly (Housekeeping)
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient work area.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum 5 years experience as a Tire Technician
  • Experience with open pit mining equipment, notably Ultra class size tires 795 and 79
  • Experienced with tire manipulator
  • Minimum five years' related experience in a fastpaced production environment.
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED;
  • Computer literate and proven knowledge of word order systems, and tire monitoring systems
  • Focused and selfmotivated with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working at a remote work site is an asset
