nīkinān oskāyak (Youth) Centre Assistant / Secretary


Job Description:


We are looking for someone with the ability and skill to respond effectively to the nīkinān oskāyak (My Home Youth) Centre needs and aid the Program Manager and Research team.

Responsibilities include greeting oskāyak, confirming, and managing attendance within the nīkinān oskāyak (My Home Youth) Centre and oskāyak programming (data entry tasks), and confirming meeting arrangements and providing meeting support as needed.

Performing general office duties such as filing and retrieving information, working with correspondence, and preparing information for meetings and reports.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist in training, coprepare duties and timelines
  • Assist in creating a space that is welcoming and accommodating to oskāyak
  • Manage files, records, office supplies and inventory in line with internal policies and procedures
  • Keep up to date with other tasks and responsibilities outside of team meetings and oskāyak programming
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for weekly gatherings including food and SLFN partners to support full participation from oskāyak
  • Take notes and meeting minutes for the Manager and its members
  • Manage budget for office supplies, program materials, food orders, as well as track and file purchase receipts
  • Work closely with the Manager to meet reporting deadlines and that procedures are met and implemented
  • Assist in preparing and submitting monthly progress reports to the Executive Director of HealthSkills/Experience:
  • Post-secondary in related field or equivalent work experience
  • 23 years of experience
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Remains calm under pressure and can thoughtfully and efficiently work through problems as they arise
  • Knowledge of nēhiyawīwin (Cree) is an asset
  • Effective communication skills including verbal and written skills
  • Excellent knowledge of computer and spreadsheet/word processing software Microsoft Office
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a teambased environment
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitudeRequirements for Employment:
