ACADEMY VOLLEYBALL TEACHER
Part-time (0.25 FTE) Term position
Academy - West Vancouver Secondary School
Effective September 3, 2024 until June 30, 2025
The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $50,000 to $104,000, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.
Required Qualifications and Experience
We have a part time position available to teach Grades 8-12 students in our Premier Volleyball Academies (Girls Development and Girls Advanced Development). The successful applicant for this position will demonstrate the following:
Experience teaching volleyball theory in the classroom
Teaching volleyball to students with varied levels of ability
Experience in coaching at both the club level and at the senior varsity high school level
Candidates must be certified (or in the process of being certified) at the NCCP Train to Train level or NCCP Level 2 and in the Advanced Development stage with Volleyball BC.
Candidate must have played at a high performance or post-secondary level
Experience in player evaluation and assessment practices in volleyball within the PHE Curriculum
Knowledge and understanding of the Long-term Athlete Development specifically as it relates to volleyball
Experience teaching the importance of lifelong physical health and mental well-being
Ability to help students make the connection between physical and mental health and the importance of positive interpersonal relationships
Experience creating and maintain relationships with partner organizations such as Volleyball BC
Current first aid certification and CPR training
Excellent communication skills working with students, staff and parents
Hold a valid teaching certificate and be a member in good standing with the Teachers' Regulation Branch
Availability in the afternoons (1:30pm-3:00pm) and in the mornings (6:45am to 8am) Monday through Friday
