Curriculum Division

Learning and Teaching Resources Sector


The Learning and Teaching Resources Sector contributes to the ongoing work of the Curriculum Division by ensuring the delivery, sustainability and scalability of authorized learning and teaching resources to support Alberta's provincial kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum.

This sector provides a centralized model for learning and teaching resource identification, procurement, development, authorization and maintenance.

To enable the sustainment and scalability of this work, the sector leads resource strategy, intellectual property and resource management services.


Resource Strategy and Management Branch


The Branch leads the work to provide the strategy for learning and teaching resources, which includes strategic planning, teaching and learning resource initiatives, and the development of processes and best practices to support all aspects of learning and teaching resources.

It provides intellectual property services and manages the digital assets, files, and records to support the implementation of resources for K-12 curriculum.

This includes permissions of use, licenses, authorization documentation, digital asset management, and records management to support each resource from inception to sunset.


Role:


Manager, Resource Management


Reporting to the Director, this position oversees the teams that ensure all learning and teaching resources that support the provincial K-12 curriculum records, intellectual property, permissions of use, and associated documentation are accurate, current and relevant; that permissions, contracts and grants are created following the relevant processes and policies; and that vendors and grant recipients provide the agreed upon materials in a timely manner as laid out in the agreements.


This position leads a team of staff and contractors in the creation, management, and sustainment of a centralized content and asset management system for learning and teaching resources for K-12 provincial curriculum, ensuring copyright and intellectual property compliance.

Additionally, this position leads a team for the creation, oversight, and compliance of all grants and contracts for the procurement of learning and teaching resources for K-12 provincial curriculum as well as the work required for permissions to use and model release forms for digital assets.


This position is accountable for the collection, documentation, and compliance of all data and records required for the management, coordination and integration of all digital learning and teaching resources and the integration of all authorized resources within the department's digital platform, including the alignment of resources to the provincial curriculum.

The Manager ensures a comprehensive authorized collection of learning and teaching resources is accessible to teachers and students and is accountable for the accuracy, relevancy, and compliance of all related materials.

This position works directly with internal and external stakeholders to establish collaborative working environments to meet the needs of the sector for learning and teaching resources for K-12 provincial curriculum.

The
Manager, Resource Management provides leadership, oversight, strategic direction, and is accountable for the following:

1. Lead and oversee the establishment and management of a centralized content management system and digital asset system for all documentation related to learning and teaching resources.

  • Establish strategic processes, procedures, and standards for the development and utilization of a content management system.
  • Establish strategic processes, procedures, and standards for the development and utilization of a digital asset system.
  • Ensure that technical requirements and guidelines are implemented to create sustainable solutions and ensure compliance to industry standards.
  • Manage and lead a team of professional staff to ensure the creation and management of the systems.
