This philosophy follows the principles of finding housing accommodations first and then establishing the supports required by the client to remain in a home.

Homeward Trust Edmonton's programs involve both housing (capital project funding, property management, and sourcing access to new or existing units for client use) and supportive services to individuals in or seeking access to housing programs.


Position Summary
This role reports to the Team Lead, Coordinated Access and is a member of the Coordinated Access Team. The Housing Access Representative will work closely with Housing Access Coordinators and other members of the Service Delivery Department.


_ Education and Experience_

  • Minimum of High School or GED equivalent
  • At least six months experience in a customer service role is required
  • Experience working in a nonforprofit organization specifically in a Housing First environment is considered an asset

_ Knowledge, Skills and Abilities_

  • Ability to work during regular office hours, from 8:30 to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday out of the Homeward Trust Head Office and other locations within the community.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate telephone, computer & peripherals.
  • Excellent knowledge of office systems and computer software including all MS Office products.
  • Strong communication skills with an external client focus.
  • An analytical thinker, able to work independently with limited supervision, and prioritize diverse tasks and assignments.
  • Able to conduct duties with professionalism and discretion, as well as maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit service sector related to people who are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of homelessness is an asset.

_ Key Responsibilities_

  • Will be able to complete preliminary screening and determine eligibility for housing programs.
  • Ensure that all data entered in the database are accurate, complete and up to date
  • Refer escalated calls to the Team Lead or Housing Access Coordinators.
  • Monitor and provide reports on the progress of client call to the Team Lead and to all appropriate team members.
  • Obtain, discuss and followthrough on feedback from individuals and families seeking services to the Team Lead.
  • Provide information about Homeward Trust, housing programs and other resources available for potential Housing First participants.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

_ Working Conditions_

  • Must pass criminal record check including vulnerable sector clearance.
  • Willing to travel (within the City of Edmonton) as required.
  • Must follow Covid19 Safety Protocols and Procedures.
