Blackline Safety is hiring an Information Design Intern to join our team in Calgary, AB for the summer of 2024 The Information Design Intern will work closely with three departments in the company: Performance & Learning, Marketing, and Communications.

During this internship, the student will learn about how information design applies to the worlds of technical communication, learning & development, and marketing.

In this role the student will support the brand identity of the company in multiple forms.


Responsibilities:


  • The Performance & Learning team creates interactive and engaging learning experiences to train our employees, distributors and customers on how to safely use our products and services.
  • The Communications team creates all technical communication related to our products and services, including technical user manuals, installation guides, and other customerfacing communication. This team also manages our external communications on the company website and social media, including blog posts, social posts, and crisis communications.
  • The Marketing team creates internal and publicfacing communications and visualizations, including case studies, white papers, and videos, that support sales initiatives and drive interest in the company.

Qualifications/Education:


  • You are a current student or recent graduate from an Information Design or Communications undergraduate program.
  • You are excited on a variety of projects, including elearning courses, social media posts and graphics, blog articles, and technical support articles.
  • You have some experience with:
  • Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Microsoft suite of apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, etc.).
  • Whiteboarding tools (Miro, Mural, or similar).
  • Messaging tools (Microsoft Teams, Slack, or similar).
  • You are able to:
  • Present and communicate ideas and designs with confidence and clarity.
  • Work independently, while also recognizing when you need to ask team members or managers for support.
  • Translate intricate concepts and ideas into concise communication for various audiences, including team members, stakeholders, and nontechnical colleagues.
  • You recognize the importance of corporate style guides in establishing the look and feel of a business.
  • You have a portfolio of design and writing work that showcases your attention to detail, creativity and problemsolving skills. Emphasis on process and not just the final outcome is appreciated.
