About Us


Since 1982, the Langley Senior Resources Society (LSRS) has provided social, recreational, and educational programs as well as nutritious food, health and supportive services for adults 50 years of age and older in the City of Langley and the Township of Langley.

LSRS is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization with over 45 staff, 1000 members and 200 volunteers that deliver over 40 programs, services and events every year.

Reporting to the Senior Accountant, you will be required to perform accounting, administrative duties and payroll.

This role supports the whole organization, so we are looking for someone who combines a friendly and engaging personality with impeccable attention to detail.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Bookkeeper with payroll experience to join our team.


Required Education, Skills and Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 1 year of bookkeeping/accounting experience
  • 1 year working in Quick Books online
  • 6+ months experience processing payroll using QuickBooks
  • Experience with a nonprofit organization an asset
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills, and proficiency in written and verbal English
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Committed to confidentiality, honesty, and integrity
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and cloudbased systems
  • Able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and identify solutions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desire to learn, improve and take on responsibilities

Responsibilities:


  • Recording and categorizing financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Processing accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payments.
  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including balance sheets and internal reports
  • Process and post receipts, deposits, purchase orders, cash reports, invoices, and process refunds
  • Process biweekly payroll for hourly and salary staff using Quick Books
  • Ability to respond to employee payroll questions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Tracking of vacation, sick and medical time
  • Other data entry and administrative related tasks as required.
  • Keep up to date with accounting standards and regulations.
3 month contract - up to 28 hours per week to start with the potential of becoming permanent Full Time


Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and possibly Thursday - 8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Starting Wage:
$21.00 to $24.00 hourly depending on experience
