Physicians will practice with humility and understand their own social position in comparison to their clients.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of a recognized school of medicine
  • Currently registered or eligible to be registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba (CPSM) for practice in Manitoba
  • Current membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Current certification of the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) or comparable professional medical certification appropriate for practice in Transgender Health
  • Interest and/or experience in communitybased medicine and the Social Determinants of Health
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (additional language skills would be an asset)
  • Prochoice
  • Willingness and ability to work with individuals of diverse gender identities/ expressions and sexuality preferences
  • Able to communicate appropriately crossculturally

RESPONSIBILITIES:


Care

  • Provides Gender Affirming health care in a community setting, in accordance with Klinic's Transhealth guidelines (based on WPATH 8th edition).
  • Collaborates with Primary Health Care Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Medical Assistants and other Klinic staff
  • Participates in case conferences
  • Participates in the development and or facilitating inservice education
  • Documents accurate and pertinent client information in a timely manner, including maintenance of medical bands
  • Charts appropriately, legibly and according to Klinic policies
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures
  • Communicates effectively with all health team members to ensure client health needs are met
  • Participates in afterhours and weekend on call service as part of Klinic's Physician Call Schedule

Program/Agency

  • Participates in the supervision and evaluation of students in the Health Services
  • Establish, review and update clinical protocols
  • Attends staff meetings;
  • Assists in the development of health information resources;
  • Assists in program development;
  • Records daily statistics as required;
  • Assists with orientation, training and supervision of new staff and students;
  • Participates in training courses and in services offered elsewhere and by Klinic in
- order to maintain and improve quality of service;

  • May be required to perform other duties and functions related to this job description but not exceeding above stated skills and capabilities

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Work environment consisting of an office building
  • Moving between different workspaces during shifts
  • May be required to move items weighing up to 12 kg
  • May encounter aggressive and/or agitated clients and visitors
  • May be required to work a variety of shifts including evenings and weekends
