The Opportunity
The Fire Services team is currently seeking a qualified and dynamic Administrative Assistant to join their department for a TERM full-time position. As an Administrative Assistant, you will be tasked with a variety of general administrative duties and providing confidential clerical support for both administrative and operational functions.
Reporting to the Senior Administrative Assistant, you will provide prompt and professional customer service on behalf of the department when answering telephone calls, email and greeting customers.
Your strong attention to detail will be required to input data with accuracy into industry specific programs such as FDM. Your ability to learn quickly and understand the data being input will help you to recognize errors and anomalies.
You will assist in maintaining stationery and cleaning supplies, prepare documents, establish files, and process invoices by creating purchase orders in Agresso.
The individual we are looking for is a team player with a strong eye for detail, combined with excellent time management, organizational and customer service skills
Qualifications
•High school diploma combined with Three (3) years related experience.
•Working towards or completion of a post-secondary administrative certificate program (such as an Office Administration Certificate) from a recognized post-secondary institution.
•Preference will be given to candidates with prior payroll processing and/or accounts receivable and payable experience, as well as experience in public sector or Municipal Government.
•Knowledge of basic accounting would be beneficial.
•Knowledge of FOIP and HIA legislation
•Strong word and data processing skills using programs of the Microsoft Office Suite and HR Information Systems.
•An Alberta Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business use are required.
Hours of Work
We offer a compressed bi-weekly work schedule of 72 hours (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off [RDO] every two weeks).
Compensation
$50,690- $60,499 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package, with the exception of LTD and pension.
Term
This is a 12-month term assignment. Starting in May 2024.
