Assistant Controller
Nor-Tec Group is a full service electrical contractor. We have been servicing Winnipeg and the far reaches of most of Manitoba for over 35 years. Our experience has been from institutional projects to municipal projects and a variety of manufacturing plant projects.


Responsibilities of the position would include:

  • Monitor and execute the complete accounting cycle, performing year and month-end accounting tasks.
  • Preparing and analyzing Financial Statements and variances.
  • Creating budgets, and variance reporting with management and owners.
  • Work closely with owners and project management to continually improve process and systems. This includes adjusting financial policies and procedures to changing needs and environment.
  • Forecast, calculate, and recognize unearned revenue after consulting with management. This includes job costing, labour tracking, computing of WIP.
  • Complete bank reconciliations for companies and intercompany transactions.
  • Oversee multiple payrolls for salaried and union employees. This includes ensuring that all government and union reporting remittances are met.
  • Oversee credit granting, collections, and court proceedings.
  • Design and create specialized reports for finance and management teams, create adhoc and standardized reporting as needs arise.
  • Administer group insurance plan for employees.
  • Liaise with company insurance and bonding agents, including property and vehicles.
  • Maintain and update settings in both Jonas Enterprise and Jonas Premier; such as retail taxes, payroll taxes tax, union dues, etc.,
  • Train, mentor, and manage employees in the finance and administration department.
  • Maintain continuity schedules and depreciation entries.
  • Safeguarding compliance at all levels; government, banking agreements, bonders and insurance.
  • Monitor cash flow.
  • Review contract terms as needed to align with AP/AR expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Assets would include:


  • Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration from a recognized institution.
  • 510 years of experiences of accounting and management experience in the Construction Industry.
  • Jonas Premier or Enterprise Construction software experience or other similar ERP software.
  • Experience in software implementation and process improvement.
  • Microsoft Suite Application experience in: Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, etc.,
