Description

ASTRAPAC, a rapidly growing manufacturer of folding carton, located in Markham, ON is currently looking to add a Packaging Prepress Graphic Designer to their team.

Prepress & Graphic Design on folding carton packaging
Preflight and prepare print ready files for print
Prepare 1UP artwork files with relevant changes to artwork as requested by customer or as dictated by production needs (design/text/bleed changes)
Creating embossing, coating/ varnish, stamping layers
Imposition artwork once 1UPs are approved by client
Inspect proofs for accuracy & give final approval for print production. Review artwork for but not limited to spelling, UPC verification, template/die lines, traps, overprints, text limits, distortion, bleeding, etc.
Coordinate customer proof approvals and press approvals.
Work closely with sales and production teams to ensure timelines are met
Interact with customer service department and print dept. to resolve any problems & issues that arise
Assist in the development specifications and standards for printing & design dept.
File, organize, update & archive electronic art files for easy access for future use
Assist in other departments as required

Qualifications:

MUST have 2 years of experience in the folding carton packaging industry
Must have experience in vectorbased software Adobe Illustrator
Knowledge in Photoshop is also required.
Proficient in the use of Adobe Acrobat & Microsoft Office
Graphic design diploma/degree from a college/university
Demonstrate ability to handle rapidly changing priorities and tight deadlines
Good oral & written skills to allow for effective communication
Organized, detailoriented and creative problem solving skills
Motivated selfstarter with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
