Purpose


The Manager, Scotia Securities Inc (SSI) Continuing Education Administrator supports the ongoing administration of the regulatory required Continuing Education requirements for the SSI Business.

The incumbent will be required to demonstrate strong organizational, reporting, analytics written and visual communication skills to manage multiple stakeholder relationships across the channels to effectively administer the Continuing Education program.

The Manager, SSI Continuing Education will be responsible for ensuring the Continuing Education Program is administered in compliance with governing regulations and follows internal policies and procedures


Accountabilities

  • Gather reporting and present regular insights and analytics to senior leadership in each distribution channel and SSI leadership
  • Serve as a primary point of contact on Continuing Education related questions for the entire SSI registrant population across all channels and other Scotiabank partners and stakeholders
  • Develop and oversee training materials and reference materials to support SSI registrants through the process of completing their Continuing Education
  • Monitor Scotiabank mandatory learning material and ensure any applicable learning is certified with regulator and leveraged towards Continuing Education
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of the SSI Continuing Education Operational Framework
  • Works in collaboration with internal partners ensuring they are customercentric and aligned with broader SSI objectives.
  • Drives synergies by leveraging resources and managing strategic relationships across business lines, functional areas, and distribution channels.
  • Provides Continuing Education insights and develop presentation materials to support Senior Management and Executive Leadership.
  • Prepares and reviews communication plans for broader SSI audience as well as Senior Management.
  • Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in daytoday activities and decisions.
  • Formulates, plans, prioritizes and tracks key Continuing Education related initiatives for review by business line management and stakeholders.
  • Helps manage relationships with key stakeholders and vendors through the project life cycle, to ensure expectations are properly managed through formal agreement of goals, objectives, scope, deliverables and schedule.
  • Works closely with SSI Compliance, GWM Internal Controls and SSI Business Controls on matters that pertain to Continuing Education regulations including the development of policy and procedures for SSI.
  • Fosters an inclusive work environment and ensure the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of daytoday business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education / Experience / Other Information

  • Postsecondary degree or diploma
  • Financial services work experience preferably in a Retail Banking or Wealth Management distribution environment
  • Strong reporting and analytics ability
  • Strong communication skills verbal, written and presentation
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize a number of concurrent projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate a positive and effective working environment at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to cater communications to key senior leadership as well as a broader audience where required
  • Understanding of New SRO rules and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid working arrangement with some required standard officebased work and some flexibility to work from home. Limited travel domestically.
