The Opportunity:


The primary responsibility of the Financial Aid Officer (FAO) is to provide financial counselling to students enabling them to obtain educational funding resources.

In addition, you will collect tuition and courseware fees as well as maintain student records.


The FAO will support the vision, mission, and values of Eastern College while contributing to a positive, supportive and student-focused team environment of respect, integrity, dedication and readiness, embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.


What you'll be doing:


  • Interview student applicants to discuss financial options.
  • Create payment plans for students.
  • Maintain financial reports, issue receipts, and track payments.
  • Daily Banking (deposits and credit cards).
  • Student Accounts / Accounts Receivable / Collections.
  • Financial Aid administration and funds distribution.
  • Followup with students and administer the Student Loan Default Management tasks.
  • HRDC / WSIB / Invoicing.
  • Correspondence with Career Colleges and Financial Institutions.
  • Enter student data in Great Plains (GP) & XCAS (when applicable).
  • Additional tasks as assigned.

What you bring to the position:

  • 1 to 2 years of related work experience.
  • Experience working with student financial aid is considered an asset.
  • A strong background in customer service and sales.
  • Proficient with MS Office, primarily Word and Excel.
