What qualifications are we looking for?

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

  • Postsecondary education in CYC, ECE, SLWK, Education or in a related field
  • Child Care Certification Level 2 or 3 required
  • Standard Child Care First Aid, CPR-Level C
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in a management role in an organization of similar size and
complexity preferred

  • Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search if applicable), within the
last six months

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a class 07 automobile insurance coverage business use (or
pleasure with occasional business use) and a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability coverage


Knowledge & Skills

  • Experience in human resource functions (recruitment, hiring, progressive coaching, termination, etc.)
  • Experience working in a child care environment with children ages 0
  • Ability to fluently use the entire MS Office suite
  • Ability to act professionally in all situations, representing the YMCA according to its core values
  • Able to deal with difficult situations and complaints with confidence
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple staff and various locations within the community
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Solid working knowledge of Alberta Child Care Act and Regulations
  • Selfmotivated with the ability to direct personal performance to achieve desired results

What does this role look like at the YMCA of Medicine Hat?
This position provides temporary maternity leave coverage until August 31, 2024. Reporting to the GM

of Child Care, the Temporary Early Years Child Care Site Manager is responsible for managing the

successful day-to-day operations of the YMCA's John Millar and Crescent Heights Child

Development Centres. This position will also support the transition that occurs when the

maternity leave ends by assisting with training and orientation.

The responsibilities and duties of this role will include but is not limited to:

Customer Service

  • Provide professional development opportunities (external and internal) for staff at both
locations

  • Encourage opportunities for leadership for Site Supervisors
  • Provide a thorough orientation for Educators to their position and work site(s)
  • Ensure Site Supervisors receive Healthy Child Development training so they can pass that
training along to front-line educators

  • Regular interaction with families as they drop off and/or pick up their children.
  • Responding to parent complaints with confidence, following YMCA values
  • Plan regular parent engagement meetings with input from the Family Liaison Worker and Site
Supervisors.

  • Be responsive to parent feedback, making adjustments to the program or parent engagement
meetings as needed
