Job Summary:


Development of programming, commissioning, installing and servicing automated machinery to customer requirements and various standards (CSA, ESA, OSHA, etc), using Vision systems, servos, HMI's, and robots.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Integrating vision systems with PLC's in automated systems
  • Commissioning, installing and servicing machinery
  • Programming controls according to customer requirements and standards.
  • Debugging machinery in conjunction with assemblers, programmers and electricians
  • Communicate with engineering in order to fully understand sequence of operation
  • Required to work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with the Company's Health and Safety and other policies
  • All above duties to be performed in a timely manner and in an ISO 9001 environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:
(Knowledge, Skill, Ability)

  • Must be able to program and integrate vision systems with PLC's and HMI's
  • Programming using C++, VB, C# (.Net Framework), HTML, JavaScript, CSSfor development of vision related algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL, PHP, Linux Shell, PowerShell and VMware (for test servers) will be a plus
  • Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret written and verbal communications in the English language
  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude
  • Must have knowledge of optics and digital image acquisition
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with customers
  • Must be able to work with others in a fastpaced environment
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be available for business travel within and outofcountry for periods up to three weeks
Autonomy and Authority

  • Works as a fully qualified professional without detailed supervision, but within clear guidelines, defined standards and specifications. Difficult, complex or unusual matters are referred to more senior authority.
  • Generally responsible for the design and programming of complete lines or standalone machines
  • May guide and monitor the work of other more junior engineers and technical staff working within the controls department or on the same projects
  • Provides input to management with respect to the evolution of company and department technical standards and designs

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • College or University degree in electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering.
  • Five
- seven years' experience programming Vision systems and experience with either PLC's, servos, or articulated robots in conjunction with automated machinery

  • Must have a valid passport and driver's license, as well as the ability to travel to customer sites, both locally and internationally
  • Must be available to travel (via air or car) for periods of up to 3 weeks

Special Requirements (physical demands and work environment):

  • Must be physically able to work with automated machinery from standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching and prone positions.
  • Must be able to work in all types of manufacturing environments (oil, dust, etc.)
