Detailed Overview:

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:

The Leader, Clinical Quality & Patient Safety (CQPS) Education contributes to the highest quality of patient care through strategic leadership in CQPS based knowledge translation from theory to practice and ensuring that education programs reflect best patient centered practices and are evidence-based, high-quality and supported by available technologies and resources.


The Leader, CQPS Education collaborates with a wide variety of people inside and outside Fraser Health (FH), including FH Networks, Physician Quality Improvement, provincial and international clinical quality & patient safety bodies, operational, clinical and professional leaders to identify desired patient safety and clinical quality outcomes.

Develops, implements and monitors work plans/projects for FH system wide CQPS improvements (e.g., regional improvement collaboratives), and supervise CQPS Clinical Nurse Educators and CQPS education project teams.

Functions as a systems leader and change agent, and is responsible for providing leadership, consultation and direction for practice education across FH.

This includes liaising with clinicians, leaders and stakeholders as well as representing FH CQPS education in decision making forums. Represents FH CQPS education on provincial, national and international basis at various forums.


Responsibilities:


  • Supervises CQPS Clinical Nurse Educators, prioritizing and assigning work, reviewing performance and recruiting staff for this role. As a senior member of the CQPS team, assists with the recruiting and orientation of other professional and administrative staff in the CQPS Department.
  • Provides education leadership, guidance and support to CQPS Clinical Nurse Educators through coaching, guiding and modeling key behaviors/strategies, encouraging dialogue and problem solving and providing guidance and advice to facilitate resolutions to education issues.
  • Works collaboratively with CQPS leaders, CQPS Clinical Nurse Educators, and staff to identify CQPS education needs and priorities, and individually or as leader of a team, plans, implements and evaluates strategies to meet those needs.
  • Contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of competencybased CQPS models for orientation and continuing education of staff, integrating these with professional practice standards and the performance management process, as appropriate. Responsible for assuring the development and updating of resources to support such education in order to assure staff competency and development.
