Background:
The HR Generalist position will provide strong support to our HR team. The successful applicant will provide support and resolve sensitive issues for personnel daily.
Job Duties:
- First point of contact for leaders and employees regarding HR related matters
- Prepare HR Letters, documents and communications
- Effectively navigate HRIS system to pull reports, review data and identify and understand trends
- Assist with employee offboarding administration and exit interviews
- Assist the development and execution of personnel procedures and policies, providing guidance and interpretation for business operations;
- Participate in development of HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and standard reports for ongoing company requirements;
- Assist in administering benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs;
- Suggest new procedures and policies to continually improve efficiency of the HR department and organization, and to improve employee experiences;
- Ensure legal compliance of HR provincial and federal regulations and all applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required;
- Manage all aspects of recruitment including job postings, interviews, offers, and overseeing employment contracts
- Prepare paperwork, schedule, and facilitate a smooth new hire onboarding process, coordinating with crossfunctional departments to deliver an exceptional first day experience;
- Provide guidance, clarification, and assistance to Supervisors on all employee relations concerns
- Coordinate employee performance appraisal programs
- Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance; andProvide support on various HR projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary graduate with a concentration in Human Resources, or a related program
- A CPHR designation is considered an asset
- 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience including 2 years of recruiting experience
Skills
- Extensive HR experience in all areas, particularly in Employee Relations.
- Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and knowledge of Indigenous culture(s).
- Resourceful, problemsolving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies.
- Full understanding of employment standards/legislations in all provinces/territories of Canada.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
- Must be able to work in Canada.
Firelight offers compensation commensurate with skills and training, within industry standard ranges.
