Fort William Historical Park is seeking an energetic and experienced marketing professional with superlative communications and leadership skills to join their team as Manager, Marketing and Visitor Experiences.

This unique opportunity offers you a chance to lead a dedicated team in the development and implementation of innovative events and marketing strategies to promote the programs, activities and visitor experiences for one of North America's largest cultural heritage attractions


About us:

Situated in Thunder Bay, Fort William Historical Park is a branch of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

The Fort is a multi-component destination tourism attraction that provides world-class cultural heritage and educational experiences for residents and visitors to northwestern Ontario.

As a living history museum, the Fort depicts the fur trade activities of the North West Company from 1803 to 1821 where Indigenous, Scottish and French cultures meet.

The heritage program features interactions with costumed interpreters, dramas, demonstrations, tours, special events, and education programs.

Facilities include a reconstructed fur trade post, campground, Indigenous and overnight experiences, the David Thompson Astronomical Observatory, the Jean Morrison Fur Trade Library, gift shop and award-winning banquet and conference facilities.

Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of its business goals.

It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the Park.

As Manager, Marketing and Visitor Experiences, you will provide strategic leadership in the:

  • promotion of Fort William Historical Park as a world-class living history museum.
- development and implementation of visitor experiences, product marketing, promotion, communications, public relations, corporate development, reservation, admissions and sales operations.
- development and implementation of programs, policies and standards to support accessible and diverse visitor experiences.
- design and delivery of business plans, marketing and product innovation initiatives.
- effective networking and collaboration with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
- effective human resources and financial management, through coaching, motivating and mentoring of staff, and budget and procurement administration.


How do I qualify?:


Strategic Leadership Skills:


  • You have leadership experience and the ability to inspire, engage, motivate, develop and mentor staff to deliver results.
  • You are a collaborative leader and have incorporated the principles of diversity, inclusion and antiracism across all elements of your management style.
  • You demonstrate good judgement, political acuity and organizational awareness in managing issues and priorities.
  • You demonstrate the
    leadership behaviours, attributes and mindset for leaders, across the organization, to lead the Park into the future and deliver our vision.

Specialized Knowledge and Technical Skills:


  • You have knowledge of marketing tools, advertising, public relations, multimedia campaigns, place branding, social networking, retail sales, market research analysis and promotion, including domestic and international marketing strategie
