Respirology, Research Assistant:
Primary Purpose:
The Division of Respirology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine is currently seeking a Research Assistant for research projects related to obstructive sleep apnea.
Nature of Work:
Under the supervision of Dr. Rob Skomro, the research assistant will support sleep apnea research in the Department of Medicine in Saskatoon Saskatchewan. Travel will be required between Saskatoon City Hospital and Royal University Hospital. Work will generally be Monday to Friday during regular work hours. The research assistant will be required to have their own laptop.
Typical Duties or Accountabilities:
- Interaction and data collection from patient participants
- Coordination of research related administrative documentation
- Scheduling of research patient visits
- Data management/analysis
- Communication with research team and stakeholders
- Handing and transporting biological samples
Education:
Undergraduate or entry to practice health sciences degree is required (i.e., Bachelor of Sciences, Bachelor of Sciences in Nursing, Respiratory Therapy Advanced Diploma, etc. although equivalent experience may be considered). Advances degrees (i.e., Master's and/or PhD) would be considered an asset.
Experience:
Previous experience with clinical trial protocols, cognitive testing, data management (Excel, Redcap) and statistics. Experience working and collaborating in a diverse environment with patients or in a research setting is required.
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal communication, strong organizational skills and proficiency in computer database management, strong writing skills are requirements.
All applicants must have the ability to work independently, have the ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
