The Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Environmental Coordinator, the
Environmental Advisor is responsible for assisting project teams to ensure environmental and contractual compliance along with recommending, supporting, and implementing environmental mitigation measures.
Additionally, the
Environmental Advisor will provide guidance, support, and assistance to ensure legislative compliance for all project work including in water works and soil management.

What YOU Will Do
- Collaborate with project team to ensure environmental compliance of construction work;
- Recommend environmental mitigation measures;
- Perform environmental inspections and monitoring; and
- Is responsible for achieving the targeted sustainable certification and credits for construction activities;
- Prepare, validate and implement environmental plans (Environmental Protection Plan, Erosion Control Plan, Waste Management Plan, Contaminated Soil Management Plan, etc.);
- Be onsite as per the projects schedule and provide environmental monitoring during site highrisk activities and present during noncritical work periods to respond to environmental issues and complete site inspections.
- Provide advice to the Project Manager and their team (superintendent and subcontractor) and help manage the various environmental issues of the projects (monitoring the quality of water discharges, protection of sensitive environments, dust control, contaminated soils management, storage of hazardous waste, compliance with the conditions of the permits and authorizations, segregation and disposal of waste, noise control, spills management, etc.);
- Prepare and assembles the required constructionrelated documents to achieve the targeted green certification;
- Review documents, shop drawings and progress reports submitted by the Project Manager
- Construction specifying, as appropriate, the actions that will be taken to meet the requirements for the certification;
- Cooperate and assists professionals and the project team in meeting the green certification objectives and target point requirements;
- Verify subcontractors' contractual obligations and the accuracy of their work as it relates to the green certification requirements & project specifications;
- Submit a Construction and Demolition Waste Management Plan targeting materials to be diverted from landfill, with their relative percentage of the total waste;
- Conduct regular construction site visits to ensure environmental compliance of construction work and completes monitoring reports in Procore;
- Maintain environmental performance indicators (nonconformities, spills, residual materials, best practices, etc.) and completes associated documentation in Procore;
- Report any apparent deviations from requirements that may affect environmental and the green certification obligations as soon as possible. Opens noncompliance reports as required;
- Find proactive solutions to maintain environmental compliance and to meet the requirements and commitments of the green certification process;
- Obtain documentation demonstrating that the materials incorporated into the work allow for the achievement of credits related to product disclosure and optimization (Environmental Product Declaration, raw material supplies, material composition);
- For the life cycle assessment, collects and submits the data sheets for the materials and products form, if applicable, and can use OneClick LCA to achieve associated credit;
- Account for GHG emissions from construction;
- When necessary, can provide training to workers and the project team on specific issues;
- Participate in the production of the monthly report or any other environmental report required for the project or for permits and authorizations;
- Collaborate with internal and external clients such as Indigenous and Community relations; as required, and governmental authorities if environmental violations and situations occur
