My Visa Source Law MDP is a premier provider of immigration legal services in the digital era and we're seeking an Immigration Lawyer to join our expanding Toronto team.
Our law firm is located in the heart of Toronto, downtown on Bay Street. We pride ourselves on having a client-centred focus backed by leading technology.
Across the country, our Toronto and Vancouver offices help thousands of individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses large and small navigate through Canadian immigration law and policy on an annual basis.
An Immigration Lawyer will possess the following qualities:
- Warm, outgoing, and proactive
- Ability to prioritize, multitask and balance competing interests
- Knowledge of client care processes
- High attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Techsavvy with a proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong command of how to conduct legal research in an effective and efficient manner
- Ability to learn how to plan projects
- Preparing submission packages for both basic and complex cases and submitting to various government agencies (e.g., Employment and Social Development Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada etc.)
- Preparing for and representing clients at Federal Court, Immigration Appeal Division, Immigration Division, Refugee Protection Division, Refugee Appeal Division, IRCC/CBSA Interviews and other respective bodies
- Performing various administrative duties including, but not limited to organizing and managing files, tracking dates, inputting data into spreadsheets, photocopying/faxing submission packages
- Forecast internal and external issues to develop a plan of action for the senior team to approve
- Daily review of submission packages for both basic and complex cases to various government agencies (e.g., Employment and Social Development Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada etc.)
- Be the first point of contact for clientrelated escalations
- Effectively communicate with clients regarding procedural and case processing issues, identify client immigration solutions and understand current client activity
- Analyze, track and record all client specific processes and procedures
- Participate in officewide projects, including training and process improvement
- Stay up to date with developments in immigration law
- Understand existing fee agreements and established billing practices
- Other duties may be assigned as required
- Licensed with the Law Society of Ontario
