Role Description

Reporting to the Manager, Fundraising Events, the
Specialist, Fundraising Signature Events will support with the coordination, planning and execution of ALS Canada's Signature Events including Pull to End ALS, Revolution Ride, Walk to End ALS in conjunction with supporting the events portfolio, which includes the third-party events, Buck-A-Puck for ALS, and Hike to End ALS.

To support the revenue goals of the Signature Events portfolio, the Specialist will focus on the growth of all events through recruitment, retention, and sponsorship.

This role will also support the stewardship of participants, Team Captains, donors, and sponsors.

What You Will Do:


  • Revenue/Recruitment_
  • Motivate and engage participants in efforts to meet or exceed overall event revenue targets for all Signature events
  • Recruit new teams and individuals for all Signature Events by conducting outreach to corporate groups and community partners
  • Increase donations raised per participant and teams by contributing recommendations for the donor stewardship strategy and participant/team journey
  • Build and lead Team Captain kickoffs and participant engagement activities
  • Support event campaigns through metrics analysis, reporting on KPIs revenue tracking; support contingency planning activities, when required; Contribute to postevent analyses research and presentations
  • Facilitate personalized recruitment and fundraising campaigns as needed
  • Sponsorship_
  • Research, solicit and secure event cash sponsorships and inkind sponsorship all Signature Events, including Pull to End ALS, Revolution Ride, Walk to End ALS, Buck-APuck for ALS, and Hike to End ALS
  • Create and manage contracts for event sponsors and work with internal departments to ensure all contract deliverables are fulfilled
  • Secure and deepen relationships with current and prospective event sponsors
  • Develop sponsorship decks, contracts, and stewardship impact reports to sponsors as required
  • Identify opportunities to expand fundraising outside of current supporter network
  • Collaborate with the Fund Development team to approach prospects with multi
- year and cross-department sponsorship opportunities that integrate Signature Events

  • Logistics_
  • Incorporate the ALS Canada vision, mission and values in the planning and execution of Signature Events
  • Source, order, and distribute swag and fundraising incentives for Signature Events as required
  • Source inkind sponsorship opportunities to cut costs for events
  • Coordinate signage development, supply packing leading up to and after events: sorting and dividing supplies, lifting, loading products, and mailing items to individuals as required
  • When needed, act as the liaison between the Marketing & Communication and the Fund Development teams for select Signature Events
  • Provide insurance certificates and source necessary permits as required; collection of all event weekend details for participant communications
  • Oversee safe and secure money handling process and procedures for Signature Events
  • Process all eventrelated invoicing
  • Support staff scheduling and volunteer recruitment for Signature Events
  • Customer Service and Stewardship_
  • Support the Revolution Ride staff/volunteer committee and assist with recruitment for volunteer committee
  • As part of event stewardship, build and maintain relationships with fundraisers across Signature Event portfolio and team captains on a personal level and communicate with them regularly through personal contact
  • Develop surveys and analyze survey responses to measure participant satisfaction to inform future strategic planning
  • Support event participants and volunteers, ensuring a smooth event experience

  • Attend ALS Canada events as an ambassador of the organization where required

What we are looking for:


  • University degree or college diploma and minimum 34 years of progressive fundraising experience, including experience working on peertopeer fundraising events, managing volunteer activities, and achieving revenue targets
  • Driver's License required
  • Proven background in leading fundraising event campaigns with revenue targets of $200k+
  • Proven expertise in developing strategy and managing a fundraising portfolio, building campaign metrics, user journey, communications, and stewardship plans
  • Proven experience securing corporate sponsorships
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and an aptitude for database systems
  • Experience in not for profit, health charity or working with individuals with a terminal illness an asset
