Join our dedicated team at Adult Addiction Services. We are actively seeking qualified Addiction Counselors to join team.

In this role, you will be instrumental in providing comprehensive Addiction Services to individuals facing substance abuse challenges, often in conjunction with co-occurring disorders such as addictions and mental health issues.

The primary focus of this position involves case management, pre and post-treatment planning, group facilitation, program development, individual counseling, and aftercare support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective Addiction Services
  • Provide case management, pre and posttreatment planning, group therapy, individual counseling, and aftercare support
  • Work primarily at the Crossroads Centre site, while actively engaging with the larger team and extending services between Sister Margaret Smith Centre and Crossroads Centre to ensure a seamless continuum of treatment
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of programs within Adult Addiction Services
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining regular attendance at work

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor level University degree in Social Work or related discipline
  • Registration with the College of Registered Social Workers (RSW) or equivalent
  • Clinical experience working with adults experiencing substance use issues
  • Direct experience in crisis intervention, group work, and case management

Skills/Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of substance abuse and/or problem gambling.
  • Working knowledge of substance abuse theory, mental health issues, and family systems
  • Working knowledge of the Thunder Bay Addiction system and integrated partnerships
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
