LEGAL COUNSEL
Victoria

BC Ferries is currently seeking a collaborative, focused and engaged in-house lawyer to augment our legal department.

The position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with Senior Management and provide valued legal advice in support of the company's business.

Reporting to the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, your main area of focus will be overseeing the negotiation and preparation of a wide range of commercial agreements including construction contracts, commercial leases, information technology agreements, and a variety of general commercial contracts.

Additional areas of expertise required include:

Corporate and securities law including corporate governance and corporate finance;
Regulatory law;
Environmental law; and
Trademark, copyright, and advertising law.

As an individual, you bring an energetic, results-oriented commitment to your work; and you are adept at building relationships with a broad range of departmental leaders.

Your curiosity motivates you to delve into the complexities of a geographical dispersed, highly regulated industry and your attention to detail is unparalleled.

From an experience and educational standpoint you bring:

Juris Doctor
Law Degree
48 years related legal experience (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
Past experience working in a multifaceted corporation
Membership in good standing with The Law Society of British Columbia
