We are seeking one permanent full-time cook to join our team.

The cook will play an integral role in planning and delivering an outstanding dining experience for our residents and guests.

Days are Tuesday 8:00am-4:00pm, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:00am-7:00pm.

Skills and Abilities:

Excellent communication skills
Must be able to understand the needs of the elderly
Must be a team player and maintain excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to follow instructions
Enjoy working in a busy environment
Must be in good health
Prepares and produces all meals as per the posted menu
Plates the meals for lunch and dinner.
Forecasts food production requirements on a daily basis and plans for effective utilization of food and leftovers
Ensures that menu changes are approved by the chef manager
Presents appetizing and appealing meals to the residents and ensures that all HACCP requirements are maintained

- assists in directing and training staff involved with food preparation and proper use of equipment

Responsible for cleaning, maintenance and safety of all kitchen equipment
Monitors risks such as correct food temperatures, fridge and freezer temperatures, and dishwasher temperature
Maintains food quality, quantity, appearance, and portion size
Provides general supervision of the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
Performs other duties as assigned or delegated by the Head Chef or other members of the residences management team
Maintains effective communication with coworkers. Must practice "respectful workplace environment"
Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act
