Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is searching for a
Digital Marketing Manager whose knowledge of the digital media landscape will help the Institute share the power and importance of fundamental science.

Perimeter is the world's first custom-built centre for theoretical physics research, training, and outreach.

Perimeter fulfils its founding mandate of sharing science through digital storytelling and strategic communications to its important stakeholders, particularly the public and private funders who support not-for-profit Institute.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develops the strategy and manage execution of Perimeter's digital marketing, including (but not limited to):
  • Digital content and strategy: website, social media, campaigns, branding, paid digital, measurement and reporting
  • Review industry trends and campaigns and develop recommendations to inform program development and business planning initiatives.
  • Responsible for strategic planning and management of Perimeter's web properties creating and curating webpages, managing updates, ensuring accuracy and relevance of content, SEO best practices, ensuring EDI representation and key messaging. Ensure compliance with federal Frenchlanguage requirements.

Project manage any special digital projects (example:
digital highlights report, student job board, etc.)

  • Work across the Institute and with external partners on digital campaigns, joint communications projects
  • Contribute to the planning and production of _Conversations at the Perimeter_ podcast, including dissemination of final episodes (audio and video) and overseeing promotions
  • Department operational support including: working with the Director to develop annual planning/budgeting and KPIs. Coordinate with members of the Communications team to manage and complete all financial and KPI reports. Manage Communications budget including POs, credit card statements, etc.
  • Participate in editorial planning and creation of Perimeter content (articles, photography, Slices of PI, video), and provide design/communications support to other Perimeter departments including Advancement, External Relations, Educational Outreach
  • Represent the Communications team at various internal meetings
  • Interdepartmental, Salesforce governance, and Inclusive Platform group(s)

Desired Education, Knowledge & Competencies:


  • University or College degree/diploma in design, communications, or related discipline
  • 5 or more years comparable work experience
  • Demonstrated project management and problemsolving skills on Institutionwide level projects
  • Experience in developing and executing digital marketing strategies and campaigns
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube which includes organic and paid, and an eye for emerging digital trends
  • Understanding of CRM and MA systems such as Salesforce and Hubspot (or equivalent)
  • Expert communications planning, strategy, budgeting, and measurement skills
  • Understanding of digital metrics and analytics (Google Analytics, social insights, etc.)
  • Experience managing people and working in collaboration with other teams
  • Proficiency in graphic design with software preferred (i.e. InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat) as well as MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in video storytelling and multimedia production/editing is considered an asset
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and the ability to juggle multiple projects, shifting workloads and tight deadlines
  • Fluency in French is considered an asset, though not required
  • Experience in nonprofit and/or academic sectors is considered and asset
