Reporting to the Petroleum Manager, the Driver Sales Representative is responsible for safely delivering world-class customer service, operating tandem, or tridem, meeting customers, and loading and unloading petroleum products.

The position will be responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and its features while delivering hazardous petroleum products to customers, general maintenance on fuel trucks, filling out daily logs, completing pre-trip inspections, and reporting any discrepancies directly to the Petroleum Manger.


The incumbent will also be expected to communicate sales and promotion programs to customers, maintain a professional representation of South Country Co-op, and adhere to South Country Co-op's safety policies.


Qualifications:

Must possess a minimum of 3 years of experience and have a valid class 3 or higher driver's license with a clean driver abstract and be bondable; TDG and WHMIS are required.

Must be able to work well unsupervised; knowledge of Petroleum products and mechanical ability would be an asset. Experience transporting dangerous goods is considered an asset.

  • Ability to complete and sucessfully pass a preemployment alcohol and substance test
  • Clean drivers abstract, Class 3 (minimum)
  • Spend up to 75% of the day driving
  • Ability to recognize and understand the unique properties and handling requirements of the load being hauled, as well as any special rules pertaining to the transport of the load.
  • Required to have the ability to recognize and understand whether the current load is compatible with whatever was in the tank before and if any product left on truck from previous load, to eliminate cross contamination and or mixes.
  • Ability to move hazardous materials into and around nonindustrial areas, such as delivering petroleum products to a residence, farm etc.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions (e.g., dry, hot, wet, cold) and within a noisy, dusty etc. environment.
  • Must have some computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and be able to read maps

  • Ability to climb and to work at heights and to lift, lower and carry products products weighing more than 55 lbs. regularly

Days, evenings and some weekends
