The Communications Associate facilitates and strengthens LHSC's profile, reputation and communications objectives through the delivery of practice expertise in support of the professional activities carried out by the Communications and Public Engagement Department at London Health Sciences Centre.


Specifically, the position supports department leaders and staff in the creation of communications plans and tactics including research, writing, editing and evaluation in accordance with industry standards and best practices.

The position assists with the full range of PR activities in the department including communications planning, development of tactics, web publishing, social media and other web content, special projects and events, and related assignments in media relations, internal communications, publications, community/public relations, and measurement and evaluation activities.

Temporary Full-Time

Rate of Pay:
$31.36 per hour - $39.20 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours a week


Duration:
Up to August 2025


Qualifications:


  • Successful completion of a Degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or as acceptable by the Hospital.
  • Undergraduate degree in an unrelated field, accompanied by postgraduate certificate in Public Relations/Communications may also be acceptable.
  • Minimum one (1) year recent, related experience
  • Effective time management, organization skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with similar deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to various work styles and demands and is able to receive direction from various individuals
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in PR and communications practice, including excellent writing skills
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, executing and measuring internal and external public engagement experiences, special events and VIP visits
  • Develops and maintains skills which promote leading edge public relations and communications practice
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills (Internet, Microsoft Office Suite, web publishing, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience in research skills and evaluation methodologies for communications and public relations activities
  • Experience in social media, web development, and media tracking and reports
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and the ability to work in a respectful, cooperative team environment
  • Demonstrated ability in professional communications and public relations writing
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:


  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
