As an integral member of the
Laboratory Medicine Program (LMP) team, the
Coordinator I, Education - LMP is accountable for the administrative responsibilities related to our students, trainees, and other learners within the Program.

This person will report directly to the LMP Manager, Education & Practice, with frequent engagement with education leadership for associated disciplines and professional groups.

Well-organized and able to juggle competing priorities, the Education Coordinator ensures that all learners are appropriately on-boarded, scheduled, and managed for the duration of their placements within LMP, coordinating associated learning opportunities, schedules, finances, and faculty responsibilities.

They also serve as the administrative point person for LMP as a clinical partner to affiliated academic partners, ensuring that associated policies and procedures are followed.

As the lynchpin for all academic programs and other learning opportunities across professions in LMP, the Education Coordinator is key to the standardization of process, the alignment of interprofessional learning opportunities, and the smooth integration of learners across the clinical Program.


The principal responsibilities include:

onboarding of medical trainees (core and elective), allied health trainees, and clinical observers; development, maintenance, and communication of trainee-related schedules (ie clinical and academic rotations, call schedules), collection and management of learner and faculty records, evaluation data, and generation of related reports; coordination of financial arrangements for LMP medical fellows; administrative coordination of education-related meetings, committees, and communications; maintenance and communication of education-related policies and procedures; planning of education-related events and communications; and other duties related to operational and strategic advancement of the LMP Education portfolio, consistent with the job classification, under the supervision of the LMP Manager, Education and Practice.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent required
  • Completion of a recognized medical office or business administration or adult education program, or equivalent, at the diploma level required
  • Four (4) years related administrative support experience
  • Experience working in a health care environment an asset.
  • Experience working with webinar systems, virtual meetings,
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Proven strong consultation/communication/critical thinking/problem solving skills written/oral
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with all staff, learners, and academic stakeholders
  • Previous onthejob computer/wordprocessing, database and spreadsheet software experience; experience in a Microsoft Office environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care, organizational/office practices, procedures and standards
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and medical writing an asset
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
