Position Description Summary:
The YWCA Lethbridge & District is seeking a dedicated individual who wants to make a difference in the lives of young adults through our Hestia Homes Program.
The Role Model position requires a motivated and compassionate individual to fulfil it. This position encompasses room and board for one individual and a monthly tax-free stipend ($1000). The Role Model is able to maintain full time employment or schooling outside of this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 1. Provide a safe, healthy and supervised environment for youth occupying the residents.
- 2. To conduct regular check ins with the youth and report consecutive absences to Hestia Homes support staff.
- 3. Engage in general conflict management amongst house residents as required.
- 4. Must be present every night (11:00PM 07:00AM) (time away can be arranged with notice)
- 5. To abide to general Household Expectations
- 6. Report any behaviour changes of any of the youth that may be of concern to Hestia Homes support staff.
- 7.
Ensure the program home and property are maintained:
general cleanliness is maintained, notify support staff of required repairs within the home, ensure yard is maintained, attend and participate in house meetings.
The Role model position works collaboratively with the YWCA residential support team to build life skills and create independence which is the goal of the program.
The Role Model is responsible for Home Management and expected to be present at the house overnight (approximately 11pm-7 am).
Internal Staff are encouraged to apply. YWCA Staff are able to maintain their current employment if successful for the Live-In Role Model position.Qualifications:
- 1. Minimum grade 12 education, with preferable training in related field
- 2. Understanding of; Trauma-Informed, Person-Centered Care, Harm Reduction Philosophy, Housing First Philosophy
- 3. General knowledge of issues surrounding adolescence (ie. Addictions, childhood trauma and abuse, economic factors, etc.)
- 4. Ability to assess and respond appropriately in emergency situations
- 5. Standard First Aid-Level C with AED
- 6. Criminal Record Check and Child and Youth Intervention Record Check
