Description:

The Ottawa Food Bank provides fresh and non-perishable food, as well as supplies such as diapers, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to its network of over 100 emergency food programs across the city.

We work in partnership to create a healthier city by empowering people, increasing access to healthy food, and advocating for systemic changes that reduce food insecurity.


Reporting to the Direct Response Manager, the Fundraising Coordinator supports the Ottawa Food Bank's direct response fundraising activities and provides administrative support to other members of the Communications and Development team as required.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Works with the Ottawa Food Bank's donor call centre to ensure that messaging and information about direct response campaigns is up to date.
  • Supports fundraising campaigns by collecting stories of impact from those connected to and accessing services of the Ottawa Food Bank network.
  • Supports the Direct Response Manager by ensuring that campaign timelines are documented and adhered to.
  • Maintains a translation document of regularly used phrases and terminology and submits campaign materials for translation.
  • Works with and informs the Finance and Administration team to produce queries and reports from Raiser's Edge for each campaign.
  • Records stewardship and recognition actions in Raiser's Edge.
  • Supports the Direct Response Manager with the management of the online donation page (Raisin). Builds online donation pages for campaigns, including vanity URL management.
  • Acts as the owner/point person for Raisin fundraising pages, including ensuring that Raisin pages are linked to appropriate funds. In case of system outage, helps troubleshoot donors' online experience.
  • Updates annual stewardship messaging under the direction of the Direct Response Manager.
  • Works with the Direct Response Manager to ensure that donation receipts issued by Raisin meet CRA requirements.
  • Supports other accountability and stewardship work as required.
  • Assists and coordinates with the donor care team, providing up to date messaging and information about direct mail campaigns and other special campaigns.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:


  • Experience with Raiser's Edge and online fundraising platforms is an asset.
  • Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies is an asset.
  • Highly organized, independent, and selfdirected, with the ability to establish and manage priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Experience working with a fundraising team, including direct mail coordination,
  • Postsecondary degree or college diploma in a related field, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working towards CFRE is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR CONTACTS:


The incumbent works closely with co-workers on the Communications and Development team to provide information and updates and to foster coordination of activities among team members.

The incumbent may interact with donors to troubleshoot issues related to donations.


PROBLEM SOLVING:

The incumbent is responsible for time management and ensuring that campaign deadlines are met. The incumbent will identify and work to resolve issues related to direct mail campaign material content and layout.


CONSEQUENCE OF ERRORS:

Errors could negatively impact the Ottawa Food Bank's image and reputation with existing or potential donors.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL:

Work is performed in an office environment.


PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The work does not have any physical requirements other than those found in a normal office environment. Visual stress may occur when using a computer for long periods of time. The work requires careful attention to detail to prevent errors.


LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent English language skills (verbal and written) are a requirement of the position. The ability to communicate in French or other languages is an asset.
