  • Participate in industry consultations and prepare reports to senior leadership for decision making
  • Appear before the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board as required by Department management
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team while providing service to a range of development stakeholders developers, builders, consultants, architects, and land surveyors
  • Respond to inquiries from the general public, other departments, and the development industry with complete and professional information
  • Review and update standard operating procedures and job aids to reflect changes to planning tools and business practices
  • Research, conduct stakeholder engagement, analyze, make recommendations, share learnings and prepare reports and presentations on current trends which affect subdivision
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings

Note:
This position may be a combination of working from home and on-site working conditions.


Qualifications:


  • Currently enrolled in a planning coop or related postsecondary work experience degree program
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of urban and regional planning
  • Familiarity with the full land development process in the Edmonton context
  • Familiarity with reading and interpreting plans/maps, applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and planning policy documents
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Ability to conduct research using various methodology and provide detailed analysis of information using statistical techniques and quantitative analysis
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Ability to achieve results in a respectful, inclusive, and serviceminded manner

Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
