Work setting:

Tasks:


  • Operate audiovisual equipment
  • Assist in the research, handling and storage of artifacts
  • Assist in the restoration and conservation of artifacts under the direction of a conservator
  • Assist with the planning and development of travelling exhibitions and special events
  • Classify and assign registration numbers to artifacts and supervise inventory control
  • Conduct guided tours of museums, gallery exhibitions and historical, heritage and other sites, answer inquiries and provide information
  • Construct displays and dioramas, build models, install artifacts in displays and prepare artifacts for storage and shipping
  • Fabricate custom frames, measure and cut mats, mat enhancements and glass, and mount paintings, photographs and other art work
  • Restore and conserve museum and gallery artifacts
  • Research origins and history of artifacts
  • Provide advice on display and storage of artifacts to insure proper maintenance and preservation
  • Provide consultation to museums, art galleries or private individuals
  • Develop storyline and theme of displays and exhibitions
  • Coordinate the storage of collections and settingup of displays and exhibitions
  • Study artifacts (objects and structures) to reconstruct past economic, social, political and intellectual life
  • Conduct research into one or more phases or aspects of past human activity and interpret and document findings
  • Research new conservation and restoration techniques
