This Intermediate Mechanical Estimator position is located in Nanaimo B.C., reporting directly to the Owner.- Reading front end documents, including instructions to bidders to determine closing dates, tendering or RFQ procedures, bonding requirements, insurance requirements, etc.
- Determine tender form requirements and set up tender specific breakout pricing to ensure compliance with tender submission
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing specific to tenders
- Take off mechanical systems and work closely with the Owner to produce thorough and complete estimates
- Maintain an industry presence to ensure continuity of work now and in the future
- Keep current with technology in the mechanical contracting industry to ensure that all estimates include for the most up to date construction methods, materials, processes
- Prepare estimates including costs of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects based on tender documents.
- Recommend alternates and costsaving solution when called on.
- Experience in designbuild/assist budget developments.
- Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects regarding tenders
- Participate in site review, tender review, tender handoff, project closeout.
- Keep a current directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
- Travel to various sites when required for site walks.

EDUCATION
- BC Plumbing Trade Certificate or Red Seal
- Mechanical Engineering Technologist, a plus
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 13 years of Estimating or Design experience in Multistorey Residential, Commercial, Industrial and Institutional Mechanical industries
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

- AutoCAD experience a plus
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Computerbased Estimating and Project Management
Salary:
$63,106.07-$115,184.98 per year
