    Job Summary

    Responsible for supervising and overseeing 4 staff members; the Security Clerk, Insurance Clerk and (2) ASG Project Coordinators. Provide support to the Manager of Security/Risk and Warehouse Services in managing the daily operations of the departments.


    Identifying and assessing risk, providing risk mitigation, strategies, and risk management advice to various stakeholders; provides day-to-day administration of the Board's liability, property, vehicle fleet, boiler and asset/equipment insurance programs.

    To assist in the analysis of insurance and risk data, identifying key performance indicators and associated trends, patterns, and potential areas of concern.

    Respond to questions received from administrators and other board staff as it relates to Risk Management (school's activities and events, field trip requests, liability and property related, etc).

    To provide ongoing guidance to staff to better understand and mitigate risks. Respond to staff questions about accident/injury reports. Manage business requests and issue certificate of insurance (COl) to internal / external stakeholders.


    Monthly meetings with Security team to analyze and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of current security systems in place (camera systems, DSC alarm system, access control cards/code units, front door video intercom systems, incident database, and more).

    Review compliance audits to ensure that key components of Board systems continue to meet the security needs of the board.

    Explore options to improve existing systems by upgrading/replacing, based on workorders, previous service costs, and end users feedback, this can include working with the Board Security Consultant.

    Key Responsibilities

    Oversee daily operation of Security and Risk Management.
    Manage insurance renewal process through data collection and analysis. Complete and submit renewal applications (Liability, cyber, property, boiler/machinery, auto fleet).

    Preparation of RFP's for Insurance products/services, evaluation of special insurance programs offered to school community such as permit insurance and student accidents.

    Oversee and support the Manager with Case Management for Liability, Property, Cyber and Fleet/Auto Claims. Liaison and gather information to support insurance adjuster, insurers, legal, facilities, staff mitigation contractors, with respect to active insurance claims (Liability, property, cyber, fleet/auto claims)

    Promoting Risk Management and Security awareness throughout Board departments/schools and assisting the Manager in delivery of Risk Management and Security awareness training sessions.

    Coordinate and oversee multiple security systems at a high level for compliance, effectiveness and ensuring adherence in establishing security procedures with security team (security staff, security consultant).

    Oversee the collection of information for investigations, confidential information and vandalism/alarm reports.
    Manage the department budget, security renewal budget and create purchase and blanket orders for various agreements and projects.
    Requirement to work after hours when required and to respond to after hour emergencies.

    Qualifications

    University or College diploma (or equivalent business management qualification) in Risk Management/Insurance or Business Administration.
    Certification in Canadian Risk Management (CRM) or Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) is preferred
    Minimum of two to three years practical experience in a field related to insurance/risk management is preferred. A public risk sector/insurance management is an asset.
    Ability to expand knowledge and take specific courses to learn the basic aspects of system operations.
    Demonstrated abilities in customer service, team work, initiative, self-management, compatibility and flexibility/adaptability are required.
    Ability to write reports, letters, memorandums about exposure to risk, loss prevention, insurance matters and settlements.
    Excellent research, analytical organization, administration, and organizational skills.
    Having a strong work ethic and self-motivated to learn new software/systems is important as security technology is constantly changing.
    High computer literacy with MS Office, especially Excel, Word, Powerpoint and MS Publisher are essential.
    Two to three years providing mitigation strategies and risk management advice to various associates is an asset.
    A valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle is required.
    Working knowledge of current/relevant legislation, e.g. Insurance Act, Occupiers Liability Act, etc.
