Position Overview:


We are seeking a dedicated and proactive leader to join our team as the Community Safety and Well-being Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert.

This position will play a crucial role in directing and supporting multiple components of a multi-faceted initiative, responsible for gathering information on common risks and barriers leading to the chronic social and economic issues in Prince Albert and area, impacting gun/gang violence in Prince Albert.

The Community Safety and Well-Being Coordinator will recommend changes to programs and services provided by the City of Prince Albert to better meet the needs of the citizens' impacted by the identified socio
- economic factors.

Project Summary


Public Safety Canada awarded the City of Prince Albert a 4-year funding opportunity to initiate community-led projects to combat gun and gang violence as well as address knowledge gaps concerning the impacts of interventions in gun and gang violence.

The resulting Prince Albert Community Safety and Well-Being Initiative involves a community-wide commitment to strategy development, prevention/intervention delivery, enhancement of data systems, collaboration and growth of research and knowledge.

The intended outcome of this initiative is to build community capacity, knowledge and opportunity to effectively reduce the impacts of chronic risk, including crime, violence, gangs, homelessness, and drugs.


Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

Position

The CSWB Coordinator Position sits within the City of Prince Albert's Planning and Development Services Department.


Responsibilities:


  • Direct and support knowledge gathering on common risks and barriers impacting gun/gang violence in Prince Albert.
  • Develop and lead engagement with community partners to support development, design, implementation and evaluation of the initiative.
  • Act as a liaison between initiative partners and the broader community. Develop and implement strategies to engage key stakeholders, including community leaders, organizations and residents. Foster open dialogue and ensure diverse perspectives are considered.
  • Facilitate discussions within initiative stakeholders to identify shared community priorities related to community safety and wellbeing.
  • Utilize research, consultative, and secondary data sources to guide initiative development.
  • Host community meetings, workshops, outreach and engagement opportunities.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain complex project plans and activities.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial and activity reports, documentation, correspondence and other material related to project work.
  • Develop and implement a community investment stream that funds local knowledge creation projects.
  • Mobilize community partners around alignment of policies, resources, data and practices.
  • Work closely with the community stakeholders to identify opportunities for aligning community prevention/intervention activities around identified priorities and explore potential partnerships or collaborative efforts to develop actionable solutions.
  • Collaborate with researchers/developers around design and implementation of a collaborative space to coordinate solutions for chronic highrisk individuals in the community.
  • Collaborate with community stakeholders to develop proposals and seek out additional funding opportunities that may contribute to the City's broader Community Safety and Well-Being Initiative.
  • Work with government and community stakeholders to sustain the initiative beyond the initial funding period.
  • Make recommendations to City to Council on Program and Service delivery which could result in contracting out of new and existing Programs and services that result in direct impact on employees.
  • Manage and supervise City employee's seconded to the project or any employees hired by the City to facilitate the project.

Required Qualifications:


Qualifications:


  • The knowledge required for this position is generally obtained through a Master's Degree in Social Work or equivalent degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of senior level experience working in the human service field
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and facilitate community engagement and collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
  • Extensive understanding of community planning, development and mobilization in context of socio economic factors.
  • Superior written and oral communication/presentation skills.
  • Strong organization, coordination and planning skills.
  • Extensive experience reporting to government and community partners.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience at the broader community level.
  • Ability to establish effective multisector partnerships in the community.
  • Strong demonstrated analytical, reporting and dissemination skills.
  • Experience stewarding work plans/models and ensuring fidelity compliance.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple
