PROFILE


Gowling WLG's National Human Resources Department is looking for an experienced Manager, Compensation & Benefit who will be responsible for managing all areas of compensation and benefits including the identification, development, and evaluation of compensation & benefit programs in support of the Firm's overall strategy.

This role will participate in ad-hoc special projects in support of the Firm's overall strategy.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, develop, manage and evaluate various compensation and benefit programs and initiatives.
  • Working as part of a team, provides guidance and leadership to the Benefits team.
  • Manage and/or contribute to adhoc special projects in support of the Firm's overall strategy.

Compensation:

  • Manage the administration of the business services team compensation programs including job evaluation system, pay for performance and incentive programs.
  • Deliver strong analytical support on compensation decisions in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Manage daytoday compensation activities including firmwide salary survey participation, job evaluation, market competitiveness analysis, job grades, salary structure recommendation, job structure updates, and yearly matrix development.
  • Lead the annual business services team compensation cycle process including analyzing data, developing processes, tools, guidelines, communications and implementation of merit increases and various incentive programs.
  • Keep abreast with industry compensation trends and best practice through continuous learning and networking.

  • Manage the administration of the Firm's benefits plans including recommending strategies for reducing benefits costs, improving processes and leading changes to plan design or carriers.
  • Manage the Firm's relationships with benefit brokers and carriers.
  • Review and analyze all group benefit usage reports to make informed decisions on program/plan changes to best meet the needs of the business.
  • Keep abreast with industry benefit trends and best practice through continuous learning and networking.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of compensation and benefits experience in a management position, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Human Resources Management.
  • Certified Compensation Professional ('CCP') or Certified Benefits Professional ('CBP') designation an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of benefit and compensation principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, gain deep industry knowledge and provide proactive and responsive solutions to business needs.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with HRIS.
