Amant Community-based residential services provides supports to adults and children who have an intellectual disability in a manner that promotes respect, independence, self-determination, community participation and integration.


Position Summary:


A Keyworker (KW) within the Community Residential Program and Community Services is responsible for providing care and support to people with disabilities while working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.

The KW provides services in accordance with the Mission and Values of the organization and provincial legislation and regulations. The KW provides essential support and direction to Support Workers in the absence of the Team Leader.


Job Type:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Temporary, Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekdays, Weekends.


Wage:
$16.24 (with the possibility of increments after probation)


What you need:


  • Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate. Completion of relevant postsecondary education is considered an asset.
  • Full Valid Class 5 full or intermediate Driver's license and driver's abstract
  • Proof of Covid19 Vaccination
  • Ability to attend and demonstrate learning in all required training including First Aid/ CPR, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, and all other training as assigned
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, Clear Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks' (no older than 3 months)
  • Self-Assessment Workshop Using the Personal Outcome Measures Certificate preferred
  • CORE Supervisory Training Certificate preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:


Consistent with the Mission and Values of the organization, a Key Worker of the Community Residential Program and Community Services is responsible for the provision of residential support services, ensuring adherence to policies of the organization and to the requirements of external accrediting or regulatory bodies.

Priority is given to providing services so as to facilitate the attainment of personal outcomes in accordance to the person supported.

  • Attending Medical Appointments

Experience you bring:


  • Minimum 2 years of experience providing direct support services to people with intellectual & development disabilities.
  • Previous experience in a residential setting as an asset
  • Proven experience in completing administrative functions
  • Must possess knowledge of care, education and training of persons with a developmental disability
  • Knowledge of the structure, regulations, and legislation of Family Services, Child and Family Services, and Residential Care Licensing is an asset
  • Knowledge of current trends in services for individuals with disabilities.
  • Positive, energetic, selfdirected and person focused.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well with others as a part of a team, as well as alone
  • This means both giving and receiving feedback from coworkers
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to fast paced and ever changing environments
  • Ability to take initiative and effectively find solutions to problems or barriers
  • Physical ability to support people that may have mobility concerns or require assistance/ or Ability to effectively deal with behavioral situations

Amant is a bilingual organization. Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.

As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases.
