    DUTIES

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Thompson Rivers University is seeking a sessional faculty member who will teach one or two sections of EDUC5990: Writing in a Graduate Context in Summer, 2024.

    CALENDAR DESCRIPTION

    Special topics courses are offered on a temporary basis and are not part of the regular course offerings. This course utilizes the special expertise of a faculty member or a visiting professor to go beyond the usual curriculum and enrich the program of study.     COURSE DESCRIPTION

    This course aims to support students developing academic writing skills for writing in a graduate context. Through structured experiences, non-judgmental reflection, and small group sharing and support, students have opportunities to develop an understanding of their strengths and challenges as writers in a graduate context. Students will gain skills they need to succeed in an

    QUALIFICATIONS

    PhD or EdD is required, ABD will be considered.

    · A minimum of one (1) degree in education is required.

    · Expertise in K-12 education is required.

    · Three (3) years of full time or equivalent hours teaching in K-12 settings is required.

    · Evidence of successful teaching experience at the post-secondary level is strongly preferred.

    · Demonstration of subject matter expertise is required.

    · Excellent organizational, interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills required.

    · Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62) required.

    · Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect (TRC CA 63) required.

    · Teaching excellence, including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10) required.
