Description
Purpose:
Product Management Specialist reports to the Vice President, Product Management and Technical Services, and will support the development of a bold product vision and deepening the understanding of our customers, competition and market.
As a member of the RS team, this position will support an organizational culture that cares for other's well-being through best practices in health and safety in addition to the company's values of respect, resilience, safety and teamwork.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct market research to identify customer needs, industry trends and tailwinds and use insights to inform product development decisions;
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including engineering, operations, sales, marketing and technical service, to define product requirements and priorities;
- Develop product roadmaps and strategies that align with the company's goals and vision;
- Manage the entire product life cycle from ideation to launch and postlaunch analysis;
- Analyze product performance, customer feedback and market trends to inform future product decisions;
- Work closely with the marketing team to develop gotomarket strategies, positioning, and messaging for new products;
- Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to ensure a seamless customer experience; and
- Stay uptodate with industry developments and competitors to ensure the company's products remain competitive.
Training / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or a related field; and
- 5+ years of experience in product management.
Skills:
- Acute attention to detail with excellent strategic thinking and problemsolving skills;
- A strong track record of successful product launches/product evolution;
- Strong communication, collaboration and followthrough skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams;
- Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile environment;
- Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and handle multiple assignments and adjust priorities; and
- Have an above average working knowledge of Microsoft software (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Adobe Photoshop or similar photo related software.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to physically, mentally and emotionally manage a dynamic environment;
- Ability to travel and be comfortable in the field, in a manufacturing environment or boardroom;
- Ability to work in front of a computer and type for extended periods of time; and
- Ability to work at least eight hours a day.
The following items are not required but will be considered an asset:
- Experience in the electric utility industry;
- Above average technical capacity;
- Ability to understand and review technical drawings; and
- Familiarity with composite fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite materials.
