    Indigenous Health Navigator Role

    The Vancouver Coastal Health Authority seeks an Indigenous Patient Navigator to join its Indigenous Health team at the Squamish General Hospital. The successful candidate will provide support to create safe healthcare environments for First Nations, Metis and Inuit individuals and their families.

    Key responsibilities include liaising with clients, primary care teams and community-based agencies to ensure access to necessary healthcare services. The patient navigator must be able to identify barriers in the current health system and develop strategies to mitigate these obstacles.

    Demonstrated understanding of provincial guiding principles such as the In Plain Sight report is essential for this role. Additionally, knowledge of mental health and substance use, trauma-informed practices, harm reduction approaches and strength-based care are required.
