Position Summary:


  • At the Toronto Design Centre, our Product Development teams provide solutions to our customers through the design and development of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and document new processes or modify/improve existing fixtures and assembly techniques
  • Solve assigned technical product, component, or material problems affecting efficient operation
and/or manufacture of product designs.- Provide support to other engineering functions throughout the life cycle of product, from design

through manufacturing and work with team members to resolve design or production problems.- Provide technical leadership and expertise by proposing process solutions which meet new design

and performance targets and/or eliminate problems.- Optimize Contract Manufacture utilization by Factory transfer and Business requirement.


Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Interface with suppliers to drive quality products timely delivery and qualify samples.
  • Cost /benefit analysis of design solutions and implementation options.
  • Product transfer to other factory for capacity utilization and Business requirement.
  • Design testing procedures, evaluate results, and recommend solutions
  • Evaluate materials, gather and analyze data to determine root cause of problems.
  • Responsible to ensure that designs are effectively integrated into manufacturing processes
  • Responsible to ensure manufacturing processes meet cost, performance, and schedule requirements
  • Must verify the quality of work delivered by external suppliers as applicable
  • Application of appropriate worst case and statistical tolerances.
  • Influence others outside of team to ensure goals are met and resolves conflicts in an effective manner
  • Translate customer and design requirements into factory activities.
  • Define process problems that lead to throughput or quality issues, evaluate cause of problem,
implement solutions to stabilize processes, evaluate results- Lead in the selection of new manufacturing equipment

  • Develop assembly processes, associated fixtures, and specialized tools (SMI).
  • Develop and implement assembly strategy for new products including DFM analysis and feedback
  • Document, direct and improve implementation of processes
  • Visit suppliers to evaluate their process controls and quality programs
  • Determine root cause of problems and implement short and longterm solutions to stabilize processes
  • Analyze feasibility in acquiring and implementing new assembly technologies and prepare technical
reports of findings


Job Duties/Responsibilities Cont:


  • Create & execute the NPI Process
  • Timely delivery of new product launches.
  • Accountable for design control deliverables for the introduction of new products deliverables such
as assembly process documentation, process risk assessments and equipment and process
- validations.
  • Utilize Design for Manufacturing techniques to evaluate & improve upon current designs for future
revisions.- Collaborate on risk analysis documents & exercises such as DFMEA & PFMEA.

  • Provide feedback to customers and other design functions regarding design issues, quality, materials,
etc.- Work closely with PCB design, electrical and mechanical engineering to conceptualize and design the

entire product electronic packaging for custom AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies.- Review design for Automation opportunity

  • Lead project teams to meet targets for quality, delivery & other associated measures
  • Organize & facilitate reviews at necessary milestone points
  • Represent Operations at a variety of reviews related to program launch (sourcing, design review,
launch readiness review, program review etc.)- Perform other duties as assigned


Education:


Experience Required:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4 to 7 years of manufacturing process engineering experience
  • Engineer = PEO Licensed
  • Specialist = Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Software skills: MS Excel (advanced level), Power Point (intermediate), Access (intermediate),
  • VISIO (intermediate), word other computer sk
